If you looking for a classic French style bistro cuisine in Bordeaux at affordable prices with great service, them La Tanière is a must visit. This cosy restaurant gets high praise from customers for its duck confit as well as their boeuf bourguignon and other regional delicacies.
3. La Cabane Cent Un – Restaurant d’huîtres
Address: 7 Rue Rode, 33000 Bordeaux, France
With its close promiximity to the Atlantic and the famous Arcachon Bay, famed for its oyster farming, no trip to Bordeaux is complete without sampling some oysters, preferably washed down one of the dry white wines of Entre-deux-Mers or Pessac-Léognan.
You can buy oysters in every market and open them yourself, or you can order them in one of the many gastronomic restaurants in the bay. My favourite place to sample them is the La Cabane Cent Un – Restaurant d’huîtres. Located next to the cathedral , besides excellent seafood, they also specialise in oysters – you can order half a dozen oysters for €12 or a dozen for €21.

4. Dragon Dore

5. Brasserie Liber

Similar to La Tanière , Brasserie Liber is another great shout if you are looking for classic French cuisine at good prices with also attentive service. This charming brasserie is a short walk from the historic city centre. The daily menu board has something for everyone with great seafood options as well as excellent lamb + pork ribs and confit duck. Prices are very reasonable starting at €20 for 2 courses or €24 for 3 course.
6. Magasin General

The multi dimensional community space, Darwin is a must visit. Housing a coworking space, an eco friendly skatepark , tons of great street art and a grocery shop there’s something for everyone here.
We had lunch at their onsite organic restaurant, Magasin General. Main dishes, range from delicious salads, stonebaked pizzas to homemade pasta, cost just €12 with the added option of dessert for just €5.
7. Blind Wine Bar
Address: 12 Rue Castelnau d’Auros, 33000 Bordeaux, France
Food and wine scene here is amazing – We ate so well here. Bordeaux is the capital of wine so you will drink some fantastic wine here. Highly recommend a visit to the ‘Blind’ wine bar. Serving tapas style dishes inspired by the owners Central / South American roots, each dish is accompanied by blind wine tasting- for me a wine newbie like me, it was very educational.

8. Checkout the local markets
Bordeaux is also home to some fantastic markets where you can really fresh, local food like the the Capucins market plus there is the lively Les Halles de Bacalan market. ( Great oysters here ) My last tip would be to pop into Magasin General-an organic restaurant in the Darwin ecosystem where all the ingredients are locally sourced.
9. Try Canelé at La Toque Cuivrée
Address: 41 Pl. Gambetta, 33000 Bordeaux, France
If you were to taste one thing in Bordeaux, it would have been Canelé , dough, soft and subtly scented with vanilla and rum with a crispy, caramelised exterior. The best place to try this is La Toque Cuivrée.

Where to stay in Bordeaux: Stay at the Moxy Bordeaux
Moxy Bordeaux has a fab location in the heart of Bassins à Flot , steps from the Cité du Vin and within walking distance from the Bassins des Lumières. The Moxy guestrooms are the perfect combination of style and comfort, where guests can relax and connect. The hotel’s large lobby is the place to socialise, with an onsite bar serving local beers and also stonebaked pizzas. There are lot of comfy sofas to lounge, tables to work from and and there’s a 24/7 pantry that has snacks and drinks which is very handy.
