On Friday I’m off to meet ‘La Grassa’ or the ‘Fat One’ as Bologna is affectionately referred to.
Often thought of as the hotbed of communism and referred as the Red City for its revolutionary, Bologna is a surprise model of perfect living with the city ranking highly as one of the most desirable cities to live in : combining elements of socialism like embracing the co-operative system plus encouraging public-private partnerships which are often the hallmark of a so called progressive Capitalist society.
‘Live and let live’ – the Bolognese have a relaxed attitude to life and a fun, can-do attitude to life.
This attitude of all inclusive openness is reflected in the city and Emilia Romagna region’s broad palette of extraordinary gastronomic pleasures-Bologna is the beating heart and pulse of Italian’s finest gastronomy.
From Friday 21st onwards via #DeliciousEmRom blogtrip I will be sharing with you some of the region’s gastronomic pleasures.
I will be in Castel del Rio for its famous ‘Chestnut Festival’ which is part of a larger annual wine festival. We will be dining on a menu that features chestnuts so this promises to be a unique treat.
Later we will visiting Sant’Agata Feltria to take part in its famous truffle festival where we will be hunting for truffles. Later eating handmade pasta with the truffles!
We’ll be visiting the beach party town of Fellini- Rimini on the eastern coastal fringes of Emilia Romagna and sampling the region’s famous bread staple- Piadina along with a traditional fisherman’s supper.
In between I hope to be checking out some of the bars and clubs that make Rimini the party capital on the east coast ofItaly.
No culinary odyssey to Italy would be complete without pasta making and I will be matching my wits against fellow bloggers to make ‘cappelletti’
All together, #DeliciousEmRom promises to be a real gastronomic extravaganza. I’ll be especially looking at the angle of how you can enjoy a bit of economy gastronomy from this food paradise of Italy.
I’ll be with a pretty awesome all star cast of female travel bloggers: Katja Hentschel from Travelletes Kate McCulley aka Adventurous Kate Lea Hajner from TripWolf , Christine Neder from Die Lilies and Juliane Fischer – PR account manager at Wilde & Partner (Germany )
I’ve been reliably informed that there is a guy called Nicholas from the tourist board coming along 🙂
So…. follow me please!
It all kicks off from Friday 21st afternoon.
