I hope you all had a wonderful , relaxing Xmas and looking forward to ushering in the New Year.
Wherever you are celebrating ( I am in Dublin!), I hope 2016 will be a very special year for us all.
Here’s a look back at my personal highlights of 2015.
1)The Netherlands : on the trail of van Gogh
Tomorrow I turn 36. I'll be just a year younger than Vincent Van Gogh who died at the tender age of 37.This year marks 125 years since his death: 30th July, 1890. As a treat, I've turned my birthday week into a personal quest to find Vincent and have the lovely @frommadeiratomars to help me. We are in Amsterdam where a young Vincent once lived for 2 years studying divinity, then tomorrow I'll be hopping to Nuenen, an hour north of Amsterdam where he painted his first masterpiece 'The Potato Eaters'. Then, I'll be hopping on a train to Paris and wonder the streets and bars of Montmartre which Vincent and Theo frequented before our final stop: Auvers-sur-Oise, his final resting place and where he was in his most productive phase and painted the haunting 'Wheatfield with Crows.'
